Benefits of Professional Membership

There are four primary benefits of professional membership awaiting you:

1. Find An Expert service: A patient resource database comprised of healthcare providers who have particular interest and expert training in the diagnosis and treatment of incontinence, voiding dysfunction, and related pelvic floor disorders.  It is available online or with personalized assistance through NAFC's toll-free telephone hotline to our headquarters.   To view the application, including the criteria for inclusion in the referral database, download the application now.  Each year's winter issue of Quality Care® is mailed with a listing of NAFC professional members from the Find An Expert database in closest proximity to the consumer subscribing to the newsletter, matched by ZIP code.   This is done as a special reminder to people to revisit their provider for an update of their condition and to discuss new options that have become available for treatment.

2.  Patient Education Materials: Downloadable versions (.pdf format) of our most popular patient education leaflets, such as Pelvic Muscle Exercises for Men and Women, Diet and Daily Habits, and NAFC’s 4-Day Voiding Diary are available at no charge to members. Copyright freedom is given to members to reproduce and distribute these to patients.  Alternatively, you may place an order for professionally printed, color bulk quantities in excess of 100 by telephoning the NAFC headquarters.  Members receive a bulk order discount on patient fact sheets (100 for $25 for professional members/$45 for non-members).  Stapled brochures, PME instruction tapes, and disease-specific booklets are also available at discount prices for bulk quantities.  Members may receive a free sample of any of these materials upon request. These publications are authored for NAFC by nationally recognized leaders in the field and reviewed by a clinical review team prior to publication.  They are generally updated on a two-year cycle.   Bonus!  With acknowledgment of your new (or renewed) professional membership, you will automatically receive 100 professionally printed bookmarks to give to your patients as a suggestion that they visit the NAFC web site for information and support.

3.  Resource Guide®: Products and Services for Bladder & Bowel Control is a complete directory of incontinence products and other related organizations to assist consumers and healthcare providers alike in assessing all of the options and solutions, including company contact information.  This is a huge time saver for your staff and an organizer for advanced preparation in visiting industry exhibitions at conferences.  It is published in 2-3 year cycles.   It is free to professional members, and sections are also accessible on the web site.

4.  Affiliates Bulletin is published and distributed electronically to all professional members on a quarterly basis.  A quick read, it offers key highlights from recent professional conferences, summaries of landmark journal articles, a discourse on timely topics such as transparency in reporting, and announcements of forthcoming publications and events of interest produced by NAFC.

Items of additional interest to professional members include:

5. NAFC Professional Membership Certificate

6. Quality Care®:  NAFC's official, quarterly newsletters for consumers containing practical patient information about causes, solutions, and management options for bladder and bowel control problems, voiding dysfunction, nocturia, and related pelvic floor disorders.  Share a copy in your office lobby for patients to see.

7. Discoveries®: A guide to new products and technologies that have entered the market within the last year or forthcoming in the year ahead. Complete with product listings and editorial review.  It is published between editions of the Resource Guide.

8. Professional Speaker’s Bureau: Eligibility to apply to participate in our nationwide Speaker’s Bureau of healthcare professionals. NAFC offers a free Power Point slide presentation for you to customize to local community talks you might give to consumers.  Your willingness to serve on NAFC's Speaker's Bureau may find you tapped for an interview with a national publication or news service.
